HIATUS

I’ve decided to take a break from the blog for a while and let this site just be a celebration of Obama and a platform to sell the incredibly clever, comfortable, poignant t-shirts that you should own.

Anti Gay Marriage Protesters

antigay.jpg

Five ways to better spend your time/money/energy than protesting gay marriage:

1) Donate time/money/energy to a worthy cause such as the ASPCA or GAY RIGHTS

2) Watch LOST from episode one online

3) Go on a vacation to Disneyland

4) Start composting

5) Go f*ck yourself

Three Things Hillary and I Have In Common

headshot-1.jpg160px-hillary_rodham_clinton.jpg

I guess this post was inevitable. Here goes:

1)

2)

  • I don’t give up even when I should: I completed 20 laps in a pool during a swim meet after I had barfed in the water on lap 3 and my leg cramped on lap 13. I ended up doggy paddling the last five laps and had to be carried out of the pool while the bored-silly crowd pity clapped.

Green Dreams

 camelobama.jpg

Like many people, the political issue that is on the forefront of my mind (well, following the economy - a girl’s gotta have cute shoes, right?) is the environment. I honestly didn’t know much about Obama’s stance on all things green, so I thought I’d compare what he’s doing versus what I’m doing for the environment:

ME:

  • Use public transportation as I don’t own a car.
  • Recycle
  • Eat a vegetarian diet
  • Use those fancy light bulbs that are energy efficient
  • cancel my junk mail subscriptions as they come in
  • Make sure that the oil company I own (Texaco - maybe you’ve heard of it?) uses partially recycled paper in the copy machines.

HIM:

  • Calls for cutting U.S. carbon dioxide emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. Would accomplish this through a cap-and-trade system that would auction off 100 percent of emissions permits, making polluters pay for the CO2 they emit.
  • Would channel revenue raised from auctioning emissions permits — between $30 billion and $50 billion a year — toward developing and deploying clean energy technology, creating “green jobs,” and helping low-income Americans afford higher energy bills.
  • Calls for 25 percent of U.S. electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025, and for 30 percent of the federal government’s electricity to come from renewables by 2020.
  • Proposes investing $150 billion over 10 years in R&D for renewables, biofuels, efficiency, “clean coal,” and other clean tech.
  • Calls for improving energy efficiency in the U.S. 50 percent by 2030.
  • Calls for 36 billion gallons of biofuels to be used in the U.S. each year by 2022 and 60 billion gallons of biofuels to be used in the U.S. each year by 2030.
  • Calls for all new buildings in the U.S. to be carbon neutral by 2030.
  • Calls for reducing U.S. oil consumption by at least 35 percent, or 10 million barrels a day, by 2030.
  • Introduced the Health Care for Hybrids Act, which would have the federal government help cover health-care costs for retired U.S. autoworkers in exchange for domestic auto companies investing at least 50 percent of the savings into production of more fuel-efficient vehicles.
  • Supports raising fuel-economy standards for automobiles to 40 miles per gallon and light trucks to 32 mpg by 2020.
  • Supports a phaseout of incandescent light bulbs by 2014.
  • Cosponsor of the Coal-to-Liquid Fuel Promotion Act. After being badgered by MoveOn and other progressives over the issue, he “clarified” his position by saying he would support liquefied coal only if it emitted 20 percent less carbon over its lifecycle than conventional fuels.

Foiled again! Obama wins. Good game, good game.

Back To The Drama!

drama.jpg

Frankly, I’m bored with all of the Obama/Clinton jibber jabber. I am happy to see that Bam’s is going to win the dem ticket and it’s sort of entertaining reading all of the Clinton supporter’s last feeble attempt to justify her status. In a NY times Caucus Blog, one Clinton fan wrote,

“It is worth nothing that the only Democrat to successfully run for president in the last thirty years is Bill Clinton. Hillary is leading in terms of the Clinton vote. In fact, out of people who voted for a Clinton, Hillary has received ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the vote. Clearly this makes Hillary the most electable candidate.”

Ummm, what? First of all, NOT TRUE- Second of all, since when is Hillary running against Bill?

I think that OBama’s 13 point lead clearly makes HIM the most electable candidate. But then again, maybe that’s just me.

On to more exciting topics like Vito Fossella!! Whoa whoa whoa. Even in politics, this story is juicy..

vito.jpg

Now, I’ve had bad weeks before - one time, when I was in college I had this week where I got a D on my econ project, then I accidentally backed my Mom’s BMW into a low brick wall (my car was in the shop for repairs) that caused damage worth $500, AND my sister’s dog, Jeremy (who I was dog sitting) ran away.

jeremypup.jpg

At the time I thought that no one’s bad week could top this one (I ended up finding Jeremy at my neighbor’s house - the dog had mistaken their house for ours.) Now, I realize that I was sorely mistaken.

This poor Bastard, Vito, was arrested for drunk driving, accused of extra-marital affairs, and then confirmed that he has indeed fathered an illegitimate child! All in one week! That is brutal. The thing I love about this guy is that he’s sticking to his guns and not stepping down! That’s a new yawker for you. I love this guy! What an asshole.

Transparency

My friends from the Upright Citizens Brigade put together this hilarious video - it’s a must see.  It’s not exactly pro Obama but we’ll allow it just because it’s so smart :)

The Caucus

The NY Times bloggers have been hard at work collecting photos from people in relation to the election. It’s worth taking a look at although this one is probably one of the best ones.

Make your own headline.
Suggestion: anything to do with Hillary’s campaign being six feet under.

Na na na na!

Hey Hey hey, goodbye.

I don’t actually think that badly of Hillary… But the time has come for me to post this video. A video is not that clever but no one has put a better goodbye montage up on youtube so you’ll have to bear with me.

Don’t You Just Love Him?

Obama’s Top 10 performance on Letterman - a little stiff in his delivery but somehow that adds to his appeal…
